SOUTH AFRICAN ONLINE PUBLICATIONS

SOUTH AFRICAN ONLINE PUBLICATIONS:
Online publications are electronic publishing or ePublishing includes the digital publication of e-books and electronic articles, and the development of digital use. Going online created more opportunities for newspapers to compete with broadcasting journalism in presenting users with breaking news in a timelier manner.
NEWS24
The online publication covers topics that range from South Africa’s local to international news, Africa, entertainment and Health. These are the main topics for this week: Mamphela Ramphele, Oscar Pistorius, and Marikana. The colours for this publication are blue and red. Their website is easy to access and the writing font is clear and links open quickly too.
·         Disadvantage:
·         The website is clustered and everything is crammed.
·         They focus on too many topics at once.

·         Advantages

·         Multimedia usage is perfect, every audio clip or video is very clear, although the Justin Timberlake’s video of him performing at the Grammys didn’t show it said video marked as private as YouTube felt it too explicit.

 TimesLive
The TimesLive has to be by far my favourite online publication from the three. The website is easy to use, not clustered with a lot of articles or pictures.  Their blog and its multimedia section is great, the content is simple and to the point. Justice Malala and Jonathan Jansen  are one of the writers for the opinion side of the publication.
 MAIL & GUARDIAN
Mail & Guardain formerly known as “Electronic Mail & Guardian” or “Daily Mail & Guardian”.
The publication’s topics are mostly similar to all other online websites they have tabs for News, Opinion, Business, Art & Culture, Thought Leader which includes Blogs, opinions, and analysis, with the famous cartoonist Zapiro who works for the publication adds humour after reading a rather serious article.

Ø  The growing interest of new media is growing rapidly in the country with the young and old reading news online and following the online publications on their social networking sites to get more updates throughout the day. The online sites have accounts on Twitter, FaceBook or news feeds.
