Can AGANG build a new South Africa???

Can AGANG build a new South Africa???

Activist Mamphela Ramphele on Monday 18 February 2013 officially launched a new political party platform at a news conference in Johannesburg, promising to "build the country of our dreams". The new party will be called Agang which is Nguni for ‘build’. Most of us are asking ourselves who is this woman who thinks she and her team can help save the political ruins and disorder of our country, Mamphela Ramphele became an anti-apartheid activist and one of the founders of the Black Consciousness Movement during the apartheid era, but she is more than just a woman with a dream to help improve people’s lives.

Agang already has a website and twitter handle, and will contest the 2014 national elections Ramphele said on the website: “I am consulting widely with fellow South Africans on forming a party political platform with a view to contesting the 2014 elections.” In the past we had a new political party which gave people hope and that was adamant to challenge the government, but after the 2009 general elections the party just became known as the new party that tried to seek power. Without a doubt we all know the ANC has power and is most favoured by most people in the country but what and how will Agang do that is so better and promising if the other parties aren’t singing the same song.

I hope Agang won’t campaign by finding faults from other political parties and that it will try to assist government in improving the lives of the people, create a platform of where the unheard voices are heard and help create a better country that develops its citizen’s lives. Agang will be ready for the nationwide 2014 Elections.

  1. This is still a great article. 2016 is Provincial elections, safe to say they won't be there.
